Artist Bio & Media
I am Cathy Donovan, an artist, and live in Apollo Bay.
My paintings and collagraph prints are known for their atmospheric colour, featuring native birds, local seascapes and dramatic landscapes as well as contemporary and abstract twists on these same themes.
I have exhibited in Victoria in galleries and local art shows, including the Meat Market Art Gallery, Gryphon Gallery Melbourne, and in many local exhibitions held in the Otways, Apollo Bay, Diamond Valley and Echuca region.
I mainly paint in watercolours, but also love the textures I gain from Intaglio Printmaking and take commissions for pastel portraits.
After a long and successful career, mostly focused on managing education, community strengthening and social justice policy and programs, I came to Apollo Bay to pursue my passion for art.
Opportunities to share my knowledge and experience with you will be a joy. I have taught art in secondary schools, and for over 40 years I have helped people discover their creativity through painting, drawing and other art, printmaking and textiles courses, workshops and private tuition. Some of my early teaching has also been in the areas of adult literacy and women’s access and personal development programs.
